Imphal, June 11 2023:
Bishnupur district, one of the places that saw maximum violence, is slowly limping towards normalcy with no major incidents since the last 3-4 days, said Thanga AC MLA Tongbram Robindro today.
Briefing media persons on the prevailing situation in the district and the measures taken up curb violence, the MLA said security has been beefed up in the peripheral and vulnerable areas to protect the villages and people from armed miscreants.
Few legislators have even halted nights at the vulnerable areas to provide a sense of security to the villagers, he said.
He emphasised that the legislators of the district have been working round the clock by holding meetings with various stakeholders at various levels to restore peace and normalcy.
T Robindro maintained that in order to address the grievances of the displaced people who were mostly rescued from Churachandpur district, the district had opened a first ever Grievances Cell.
The grievances and complaints received by the cell will be brought to the notice of the Government, he added.
Talking about 16 relief centres opened across Thanga AC accommodating around 1,750 displaced people, the MLA said the citizens of Thanga AC are looking after all the displaced people and their needs.
Further, special attention is being given to pregnant women and lactating mothers with routine medical check up and special care given to them.
Sharing the pain and grief of all the bereaved families and victims of the violence, T Robindro called for peace and harmony among all the people of Manipur.
He appealed to all communities to support the peace initiatives being taken up by the Government for restoration of peace.
