Imphal, June 11 2023:
Meira Paibis of Chaithabi Leirak, Khurai have made it clear that they would not vote for BJP, other ruling parties and the standing MLAs in the next election if Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the MLAs do not bring a concrete solution to the ongoing violent crisis.
A protest demonstration was staged yesterday at Chaithabi Leirak under the aegis of the Chaithabi Leirak Development Club and the Chaithabi Leirak Mayai Leikai Women Society.
The protesters put up placards which read as "Entrust the task of fighting Kuki militants to the people if the Government is unable to control them", "Illegal immigrants cannot claim land ownership", "No part of Manipur can be given to outsiders", "Implement NRC urgently", "Government of India should not patronise Kuki terrorists", and "Flush out Kuki terrorists" etc.
Speaking to the media by the sideline of the protest demonstration, Chaithabi Leirak Meira Paibi president Khwairakpam Bimola said that Kuki militants have been attacking Meitei villages and setting houses on fire unceasingly and the situation did not improve a little even after Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to the State.
There are reports that Amit Shah would be visiting Manipur for the second time shortly and the people of Manipur expect the Union Home Minister to abrogate SoO with Kuki militants and flush out Chin-Kuki militants from Myanmar who have infiltrated into India (Manipur), she said.
The Union Home Minister together with the 40/50 MLAs of the State should work sincerely to bring a concrete solution to the protracted crisis during the upcoming visit.
If Amit Shah goes back without bringing any solution, leaving the State in a chaotic situation, the people would not vote for BJP or other ruling parties or the standing MLAs, she added.
