Imphal, June 11 2023:
While appealing to the people to understand political parties and organisations trying to derail democratically elected government amidst the ongoing violence, the Socialist Students' Union of Manipur (SSUM)wamed that no polical party should de-mand imposition of President's Rule (PR) in the state.
According to a statement of SSUM, casualties in the ongoing violence would be much higher had the democratically elected government been removed and President's Rule imposed.
Had the PR been imposed, no political parties will come out to restore peace and normalcy, it pointed out.
While stating that the ongoing violence was created by illegal immigrants from Myanmar who attempted to take over land from the indigenous people of Manipur, SSUM said Manipur is now a battle-field after Meetei community could not bear onslaught of Kuki immigrants from Myanmar and decided to save Manipur from them.
The ongoing violence will end only when state and Central govern-ments flush out the illegal immigrants to their native country, Myanmar, the SSUM said.
