Rongmei Phwam Delhi NCR calls for restoration of peace in Manipur

The Rongmei Phwam Delhi (Rongmei Council Delhi NCR) has appealed to the Government and all the people of Manipur to work towards the restoration of peace & normalcy in the State at the earliest.
"The council is deeply pained and saddened by the recent widespread devastating events that have caused untold loss to Manipur and its people since May 3, 2023", Rongmei Phwam Delhi (Rongmei Council Delhi NCR) in a release.
As the crisis deepens and the State continues to burn with the unfolding of more violence and unrest, the Council expressed serious concern and appeal for immediate end to violence and speedy restoration of peace and normalcy in Manipur.
The council conveyed its deepest condolences to the grieving families of the victims of the present violence.
Rongmei Phwam Delhi NCR also extended solidarity with the thousands of people affected by the ongong violence.
"We pray for the speedy recovery of the injured", it added.
Rongmei Phwam Delhi NCR condemned all acts of violence, brutality, hatred, violation of human rights, destruction of property including houses, places of worship and other establishments.
"Although the present conflict is said to be between the Meitei (Meetei) and Kuki communities, one of our Churches (belonging to the Rongmei Naga community, though the community name is pronounced visibly), Lamphel Rongmei Baptist Church in Imphal, was also burned down on May 4, 2023, along with many other Churches", it added.
Highlighting the need for peace and not violence or hatred, the council stated that an eye for an eye or violence for violence is not the solution to any problems or aspirations.
The Rongmei Phwam Delhi NCR also appealed to all the citizens of Manipur to preserve and maintain the sanctity of the places of worship, be it a Mosque, Temple, Synagogue or Church in any conflict.
"As Manipur is experiencing one of the worst, most painful and difficult times, we must not allow any elements to incite further unrest.
Instead, we must all come together in the name of peace and promote reconciliation", it concluded.
