Devesh Deval named Secretary of probe panel

The State Government has named Devesh Deval, IAS, as Secretary of the Commission of Inquiry constituted by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, to probe the causes and associated factors of the crisis prevailing in the State since May 3 .
An order to this effect was issued today.
As per the order, Devesh Deval was named the Secretary to the Commission of Inquiry under section 3 of the Commission of Inquiry Act, 1952 in connection with a notification issued on June 4 last and published in the Gazette of India, No 2314 on the same date.
The services of Devesh Deval are placed at the disposal of the Commission for such utilization under Section 5A of the Commission of Inquiry Act 1952 as the Commission may deem fit for the purpose of the inquiry, the order said.
The order also said Devesh Deval shall report to the Chairperson of the Inquiry Commission.
Notably, Justice Ajai Lamba, former Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court (retd) is heading the Inquiry Commission as the chairman.
