Thoubal DLC holds meet, chalks out priorities

A meeting of the District Level Committee (DLC), Thoubal was held on Saturday in the presence of Thoubal deputy commis-sioner A Subhash Singh to discuss various issues relat-ed to the present situation and relief centres set up in the district.
Speaking at the meet, Dr Ksh Manglem, a former Thoubal chief medical offi-cer (CMO) and incumbent chairperson of the DLC, called upon the members of the committee to contin-ue with their humanitarian efforts at the relief centres, while the members shared their suggestions for the welfare of the people.
According to the DC Sub-hash, 12 relief centres are operating in the district with around 1,339 inmates, in-cluding around 1,100 from Churachandpur, Moreh, Serou and Sugnu.
While informing that the inmates will be accommo-dated at semi-permanent camps till normalcy returns, he said that in consultation with the local clubs and CSOs, the district admin-istration has been carrying out free medical check-up and other needs.
Speaking to officials of the District Information Offi-cer (D10), Thoubal, Subhash emphasised that the priority is to provide quality educa-tion to the students at the relief centres.
At present the volunteers are taking daily classes in collaboration with zon-al education officer (ZEO) who has already provided textbooks and benches.
The DC continued that with an aim to make the inmates self-reliant, the district administration is conducting skill develop-ment programmes in col-laboration with Krishi Vi-gyan Kendra and MSRLM.
The inmates, especially the womenfolk are provided raw materials by the admin-istration to make candles, pickle items among others, including kouna (wild water reed) products.
The finished products will be purchased by the district administra-tion from the inmates, he further conveyed.
The District Level Corn-mittee meeting was also at-tended by SP Jogeshchandra Haobijam, who is also the co-convener of the Com-mittee, officials and staff of the district administration, and district information of-ficer Tenshubam Sangeeta among others.
