Meitei, Tangkhul meet resolves for peace

Imphal, June 11 2023:
A joint meeting of Meitei and Tangkhul communi-ties held on Sunday at Nagaram community hall has unani-mously resolved to collectively work for ending the restive situation and restoring peace and tranquillity in Manipur.
The meeting jointly organ-ised by Coordinating Body, Imphal; Joint Action Coordi-nation Committee, Imphal; Tangkhul People's Organisa-tion, Imphal Valley; Nagaram Paomei Colony authority; Tangkhul Avenue Authority; Awang Chaokhong Develop-ment Club, North AOC and Chingmeirong Apunba.
Addressing media persons after the meeting, Tangkhul People's Organisation, Imphal Valley president John Daleng pointed out that as all the people of the state have been affected due to the ethnic violence which erupted on May 3, there is ur-gent need to bring the violence under control and restore peace and harmony.
In view of the urgent need to find a solution, the joint meeting was organised and resolutions adopted to col-lectively work for restoring the much needed peace.
He also informed that the Tangkhul People's Organisa-tion, Imphal Valley along with Tangkhul Long will contrib-ute its mite to restore peace in the state.
On behalf of the Coordinat-ing Body, Thoidingjam Bon Khurai said that the meeting unanimously resolved that all the indigenous communities living in the state will work to restore peace in Manipur.
