Addressing the media at Manipur Press Club here Sunday, Achung Kom, who is younger brother of chief of Purum Khullen in Kangpokpi AC, recounted that amid the violence in the state, three Kuki villages located around Purum Khullen were burnt down.
Unfortunately, on May 26, L Thangboi, the son of Purum Likli chief, and K Thangboi, president of United Komrem Revolutionary Army (UKRA) contacted him on his phone and accused him (Achung) of conspiring with Arambai Tenggol in burning down the Kuki villages and further issuing instructions to burn other Kuki villages.
As such, he (Achung) has been included in the wanted list and will be given capital punishment, while further demanding him to surrender.
On top of this, his photo was circulated on social media platforms as a wanted man.
Strongly condemning the malicious charges against him without even verifying the matter, Achung said that when he enquired on identity of individual(s) who levelled the allegation, it was said that the person lived near his vil-lage but his/her details were not provided.
He then urged the person, if he/she ex-ists and belongs to any of the community residing in his village, to authenticate the charges.
He continued that the fake accusations and subsequent threat to his life has made him restless.
"A human life is not a joke," Achung said, and appealed to the person accusing him of burning down the villages to come for-ward.
If he (Achung) is indeed guilty of the charges, he is ready to face the responsibility of the same.
However, if K Thangboi and L Thangboi fail to produce the "informant" within a week, he cautioned of lodging an FIR, while appealing to all hill and valley CSOs to help get to the truth of this matter.
Keishal Wolves Tribe general secretary Chetan Nongrakpam also condemned the charges levelled against its president Ajay Kom.
He then appealed to all concerned not to spread false statements and make light of someone's life without verifying the authenticity of the statements.
