People's convention held in Bishnupur

Bishnupur, May 03 2024:
State Level People's Convention in remembrance of the May 3, 2023 incident allegedly orchestrated by illegal immigrants and Chin-Kuki-Zo community, was organised by Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS) at Yangoi Ningthou community hall in Bishnupur, on Friday.
The convention marked by offering of floral tributes to photos of the martyrs, was attended by FOCS president Th Manihar, Bishnupur Akoiba Apunba Lup president Loitongbam Devchand, Manipur Keithel Nupi Marup president Lai shram Mema, Universal Mother's Organisation president M Sorojini Leima, World Meitei Organization president Ch Chandramani, Indigenous People's Organization Manipur secretary Rakesh Moirangthem, Apunba Lup Ningthoukhong chairman Dr IS Konthoujam, Meitei Pangal Welfare Organization president Boboi Khorimayum, KUCMA president Joy Potshangbam, Manipur Women's Federation president Kh Shini, LVYM chairman Kh Suajkumar, Yelhoumee Kanba Lup president Loken Angom and Anouba Shenmitlon vice president Kh Ingocha Meitei as presidium members.
Delivering the presidential speech, FOCS president Th Manihar Singh emphasised on the importance of fostering unity while cautioning that without collective solidarity, overcoming the struggle would be an uphill task.
The event was also attended by Manipur University Anthropology Department former head Dr W Nabakumar, Manipuri Department assistant professor Dr N Sanatomba and Indira Gandhi National Tribal University faculty Dr Homen Thangjam as resource persons.
