Imphal, May 03 2024:
Marking the one year completion of the violent campaign against Meeteis, effigies of 10 Kuki MLAs were burnt at Pangei Yangdong today.
The effigies were burnt during a protest demonstration organised by PYAL, Thougei Pangei Yangdong, PYYDA and WWA Pangei.
People from different areas also took part in the demonstration.
After burning the effigies, the gathering paid homage to Haobijam Somenkumar and Okram Sanaton from the locality and other martyrs who died fighting for the cause of Manipur by remaining silent for two minutes.

The protesters at the site expressed their dissatisfaction with the disparity in enforcing law in hill and valley districts of the State.
Expressing concern about the future of youths who have taken up arms to defend Meitei villages from the onslaught of Kuki militants, they urged the Government to put maximum efforts to end the violence and restore normalcy in Manipur.
