Work diligently or leave job: CM tells Govt employees

Chief minister N Biren Singh has categorically asked government employees to stand for the government or leave the government job if they want to join agitation or have intention to incite agitators.
The chief minister stated this on the occasion of mass sale/distribution of national flags to government employees as a part of Har Ghar Tiranga campaign under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav held at 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles parade ground, here on Wednesday.
Addressing the gathering, N Biren said that Manipur is a small state but have more than 80,000 government employees.
Those surviving with government's proper ties should first think and work for the government, for the nation and for the people, he said, adding that there will be no chaos, confusion and violence in the state if those in the government are sincere, dedicated, patriotic and work in the spirit of unity.
According to CM Biren, peace will prevail in Manipur if government employees highlight achievements of the government in the past five years to the people but there will be no peace if they work with corrupt mind and incite people to agitate.
He then asked government employees to stand for the state and nation or skip government job if they want to establish relation with civil society organisations (CSOs).
He added that government employees should refrain from any activities which would create tensions among different communities.
The chief minister further said that every citizen of India should feel proud of being an Indian and should think for the overall development of the nation in the first place.
He then appealed to all the government employees and public to hoist the national flag at their houses from August 13 to 15 as homage to all freedom fighters whose tireless contribution had led to regaining independence of the country.
He continued that state government would also observe various programmes across the state from August 13 to 15 to pay tribute and respect to great leaders who had sacrificed their lives for the cause of motherland.
Such an act of paying homage to freedom fighters would imbibe a sense of nationalism and love for the motherland amongst the younger generations, he added.
He further said that government employees should take the initiative of making their neighbours aware of the importance of Har Ghar Tiranga campaign and participate in the campaign by hoisting the national flag.
During the programme, CM N Biren Singh distributed national flags to representatives of all government departments for hoisting them at their respective office buildings.
The chief minister also launched a T-shirt for the bike rally, which will be held on August 14.Cabinet ministers, MLAs, chief secretary, DGP, senior civil and police officials and employees of different government departments attended the programme among others.
As a part of the programme, a stall for administering COVID-19 vaccine was set up at the venue by health department.
As a part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, BJP Uripok Mandal also conducted a 'Har Ghar Tiranga' (HGT) rally in the constituency on Wednesday under the supervision of Uripok MLA Khwairakpam Raghumani.
The rally was participated by locals and office bearers of the mandal.
Encouraging the HGT campaign, flags were also distributed to shops in the constituency.
On the other hand, as a part of the HGT campaign, tricolour India flag was hoisted at Rani Gaidingliu Park located at Mantripukhri.
Hill Areas Committee chairman and Nungba A/C MLA Dipu Gangmei along with members of Kabui Mothers' Association, Rongmei Youth Organisation and Zeliangrong Union cleaned the park and hoisted the India flags.
