Man held with gold worth ₹6.02 cr

Imphal, August 10 2022:
An anti-smuggling team of Customs Division, Imphal on Tuesday arrested one Md Wahidur Rahaman (51) s/o Md Habibur of Lilong Haoreibi with gold worth Rs 6.02 crore from Thamnapokpi area.
According Customs Division Imphal deputy commissioner Keerthishri S a team of the Division intercepted a dark grey Maruti Eeco Van without registration number with the help of its Pallel unit around 7.45 pm Tuesday.
The van was driven by Md Wahidur Rahaman and had two passengers inside.
All the 3 occupants and the vehicle were taken to the Customs office.
The van was later checked and around 69 gold biscuits, weighing 11.454 kg were recovered.
The gold biscuits are estimated to be worth around Rs 6.02 crore.
A case has been registered in this regard, the statement added.
