DFO scans reserved forest area

Imphal, August 10 2022:
Forest officials led by Kangpokpi divisional forest officer (DFO) N Ganesh on Wednesday conducted route march around Kanglatongbi-Kangpokpi Reserved Forest area, which is about 20 sq km, to check whether people indulge in any anthropogenic activities that could harm the nature.
The route march was conducted to signify the presence of forest department and make strategy for new activities.
Moreover, the department is planning to open check posts in different areas of the reserved forest to check illegal activities.
During the route march, the officials found small scale mining activities in and around the boundary of the reserved forest.
The department seized trucks involved in stone quarrying in the area and necessary case will be taken up against them, DFO informed.
