, Aug 10: L Romen, secretary, Village Water Sanitation Committee of Keirak Wabagai Water Supply Scheme has stated that there are high chances of interruptions in water supply to residents of Keirak and Wabagi.
Listing the main cause of this issue, L Romen highlighted the poor quality of sand used for filtration of water in the water tanks.
This makes frequent cleaning of the tanks a necessity, which poses a problem for the Committee, he said.
Further, the secretary emphasized the inadequate supply of sand from contractors and the relevant department.
He stated that the lack of sand for filtration has led to a water tank being completely unused.
Multiple complaints have been submitted to the relevant AE and SO but to no avail, he said.
L Romen added that the water tanks and buildings under this scheme are outdated and as such appealed to Chief Minister N Biren Singh to look into the matter.
