State-wide campaign launched to check adulteration of edible oils

The State Food Safety Authority, Manipur has launched a Statewide campaign on August 1,2022 with the objectives to check adulteration of edible oils, compliance with respect to limits of trans-fatty acids, labeling provisions and mandatory AGMARK license for multi-source edible oils and enforcement of prohibition on sale of loose edible oils.
The campaign has been carried out as per the instruction of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and will continue for 14 days which is till August 14, 2022, said a press release by Dr Kh Sasheekumar Mangang, Additional Commissioner of Food Safety and Director of Health Services.
As a part of the campaign, Food Safety Officers (FSO) in a staggered manner have been undergoing surveillance sampling (first stage) of the edible oils being sold in the market on a daily basis.
The samples drawn have been sent to laboratories concerned and in case of non-compliance during the first stage, regulatory samples will be lifted immediately and sent for testing.
Till today, 24 (twenty four) edible oil samples have been collected and sent for testing.
This campaign is not meant to harass anyone but to ensure that safe and quality edible oils are made available to the people, added the release.
