Imphal, August 10 2022:
The Manipur Sand Association (MSA) has stated that entry of sand-laden trucks into the State will be banned if the Senapati District Truck Owners Association (SDTOA) does not return the sand allegedly removed from several trucks at Tadubi on July 28 .
In a statement, MSA demanded the return of the sand reportedly taken by members of SDTOA and to deliver the same at the head office of MSA located in Koirengei, Imphal by August 12 .
If SDTOA fails to meet this deadline then a complete ban on entry of sand-laden trucks will be imposed from August 13, the statement added.
MSA has also appealed to sand truck drivers to refrain from entering the State in this case.
Further, the statement added that an FIR was filed in this connection at Mao Police Station on August 1 .
Aside from this, MSA also submitted complaints on the matter to the All Manipur Road Transport Drivers' & Motor Workers' Union, Senapati District Drivers' Welfare Union, Surface Transport Drivers' Welfare Union and Sadar Hills Inland Transporters and Drivers' Union, Kangpokpi.
The statement also urged the State Government to look into the matter.
MSA has further urged hill-based NGOs and student organisations to take up appropriation action to check such activities.
