PNB directed to compensate, return homestead land

Imphal, August 10 2022:
In connection with a complaint lodged to District Consumer Deputy Redressal Commission (District Commission) Imphal about a housing loan, the Commission has directed the opposite party i.e., Punjab National Bank (PNB) to pay compensation and return the homestead land.
The commission thoroughly discussed the case filed by Laikhuram Maria Montesori (34) of Top Mayai Leikai against Punjab National Bank through its Paona Bazar branch manager.
The commission directed the opposite party to pay a sum of Rs 40,000 for the mental agony and harassment caused, Rs 40,000 for deficiency in service, Rs 20,000 as cost of litigation and to return the homestead land, which has been mortgaged with the opposite party bank.
It also directed to pay the compensation within a period of two months from the date of issuing the order, failing which an interest of 8 per cent per annum would be charged on the total amount.
