Congress pays tributes

Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president K Meghachandra has stated that the grand old party will always stand against the anti people policies of the BJP and protect the rights of the people who have been hit hard by price hike, unemployment and other issues since the saffron party came to power.
He made the statement by the sidelines of the rally taken out as a part of Azadi ki Gaurav Yatra at Moirang which will be held throughout the country till August 15 to commemorate the 75 th Indian Independence Day.
Before the rally, several Congress leaders and supporters offered tributes to the statue of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose at INA Memorial Complex and at Moirang Kangla.
The rally began from INA Memorial Complex and culminated at Oinam Bazar.
Speaking to media persons, the MPCC president continued that Azadi ki Gaurav Yatra is being held to remind the people about the prominent role played by the great leaders in achieving independence.
He said that the MPCC will hold the rally in different parts of the State and listen to the grievances of the people for highlighting to the Government.
K Meghachandra added that the Congress will always stand against the 'anti people' policies of the BJP and raise slogans to save the people, especially the poor who are at the receiving end of price hike and unemployment.
Before the commencement of the rally, former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi said that it is the tradition of the Congress to pay respect to the freedom fighters who fought for the independence of India.
Former Moirang AC MLA P Saratchadra also took part in the rally.
