10 vehicles with 200 passengers leave for Guwahati/Dimapur on NH-2

Imphal, August 22 2026:
After public transport service on NH-2 (Imphal-Dimapur highway) was re-launched on Friday, more than 200 passengers left Imphal for Dimapur/Guwahati in four buses and six Winger vans today, according to a press release issued by the Chief Minister's Secretariat.
The vehicles departed from the ISBT at Khuman Lampak at around 10 this morning.
Notably, the 125 passengers who had embarked on the inaugural journey yesterday safely reached Guwahati earlier today.

The resumption of transport service along NH-2 comes after Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen and Saitu MLA Haokholet Kipgen jointly announced the reopening of National Highways for free movement of all communities and the resumption of Imphal-Dimapur-Guwahati bus service on August 8, 2026 at Kangpokpi.
Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh said public transport along the Imphal-Dimapur-Guwahati route via NH-2 continued smoothly for the second consecutive day.
Since the evening of May 3, 2023, National Highway-2, passing through Kangpokpi has been off limits for the Meiteis.
