Senapati, August 30 2026: United Naga Council (UNC) president Ng Lorho has urged the Naga people to remain vigilant, prepare themselves and face whatever challenges may come their way.

He made the statement while speaking at a condolence service for four Naga men who were recently killed in an ambush along Imphal-Tamei road, held at the Senapati district headquarters on Saturday morning.

The UNC president extended his condolences and profound sorrow over the deaths of four Naga men-Wisobou Charenamai, chair- man of Chawangkining Village Authority and former vice-president of LNC; Tadsongbou Ringkangmai, founder and Principal of Right Path School, T/Khullen; Mariakdibou Wiju-namai, executive member of Makui Youth Club; and Anil Wijunamai, executive member of Makui Youth Club.

The four persons were ambushed by Kuki militants and killed while travelling between Makui Ashang and Makui Thanamba villages along the IT Road in Kangpokpi district on August 27 at around 8.30 am .

He also said that the continued killings of Nagas by Kukis have crossed all limits and could no longer be tolerated.

However, citing the Biblical saying, "Vengeance is mine," he said justice should be left in God's hands.

Lorho called upon the Naga people not to remain silent but to stay vigilant, prepare themselves and face whatever challenges might arise.

At the same time, he appealed to the people not to panic or resort to mob culture, stating that such actions would not resolve the issue.

He maintained that the conflict is no longer an isolated issue but has become a National issue requiring serious attention and responsibility.

The UNC president warned that continued violence and "hostile attitude towards Nagas by the Kukis" could further prolong the conflict, resulting in greater displacement, destruction of infrastructure and serious humanitarian suffering.

He appealed to the Naga people to remain vigilant and make the whole world aware of the alleged repeated lies of Kuki people While observing the day as 'Geena Day' in memory of the four victims, the UNC president affirmed that their deaths would not be in vain and that their sacrifices, martyrdom and legacy would remain in the hearts and collective memory of the people.

He said the deaths had once again awakened and strengthened the spirit of unity among the Naga people.

Expressing solidarity with the bereaved families, affected villagers and the entire community, the UNC president prayed for the Almighty to grant them solace, strength, courage and fortitude during the period of grief and for the departed souls to rest in peace.
