Ukhrul police holds essay, painting contests

In connection with the observance of Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary, Gandhi Jayanti, Ukhrul District Police organised a district level open competition on essay writing and painting on Monday.
The event was conducted at the multipurpose hall of the Police Reserve Line, Phungreitang in Ukhrul town.
The essay writing was held for classes IX and X on the topic of 'Cleanliness is Next to Godliness' and the themes of painting competition for category 1 (classes IX and X) and category 2 (classes VI to VIII) were Litter Makes the World Bitter' and Go Green, Go Clean' respectively.
Altogether 63 students from 12 schools took part in the essay writing and painting competitions.
In the essay competition, Ningshen Heamahno, daughter of Ningshen Wungreihor, who is studying in class-IX at St George School won the first position while Ngatangkhui Shimray, son of Ningachan Shimray, who is studying in class-X at Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School came in second position.
The 3rd position was jointly shared by Priya Gupta, daughter of Prem Kumar Gupta, a class-X student of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Ukhrul and Yorin Shaiza, son of Ningreion Shaiza, a class class-X student of Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School, Ukhrul.
In the category 1 of the painting competition, Shan-chipui Mahung Khuiyah of Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School won the first position, while Thotreishang Horam of St George School and Ngachanso N Kashung of Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School got second and third position respectively.
In the painting category 2, Rishon Lukham of Kendriya Vidyalaya was adjudged the winner while M Chirngam of Jesus Goodwill English School and Chisin Ruivanao of Oriental Naga Academy secured second and third position respectively.
The essay writing competition and painting competitions of category I carried a cash prize of Rs 5000, 3000 and Rs 2000 along with certificates of merit for first, second and third position respectively.
The painting competition category II carried a cash prize of Rs 3500, Rs 2500 and Rs 1500 with certificates of merit for the top three positions.
The event was organised by Ukhrul District Police to inspire the youngsters and help them face competitive examinations and to enable the participants to understand the importance of cleanliness and brought in the awareness that cleanliness is a noble mission.
The event was also an effective platform to raise awareness on rising environmental pollution.
During the event, additional SP Ringthing Hong-chui and 6th MR Ukhrul deputy commandant Thotreithing Chalamva also held an interactive session with all the participants and applauded them for their wonderful creations.
SDPOs Hopkinson Chiphang and Kh Sunil Kumar, Ukhrul OC Marchang, SI James Shimray and women police OC Meena Vashum were also present at the event.
