Thoubal, August 31 2026: Hundreds of people from different communities participated in the "Meeyamgi Khollao Puba Khongchat"-- a public rally at Thoubal today.

The public rally, organised by civil bodies representing different communities, took resolutions to unite and face all threats to Manipur's social fabric and integrity.

The rally started from Kodompokpi Sports Complex, Wangjing and concluded at the Khongjom War Memorial Complex, where a public meeting was held.

During the public meeting, leaders and representatives of the ten civil bodies signed a resolution committing to promote the "idea of Manipur" and safeguard the State from all external and internal threats that aim to destabilize it.

People of different communities, including internally displaced persons, raised slogans and held placards that read "Save Manipur, Save Indigenous People, No NRC, No Census, Stop Proxy War, Immediately Arrange Resettlement of IDPs, Abrogate SoO, Justice for Indigenous people, Unity is Strength, Restore Peace and Normalcy in Manipur, Stop Communal Politics, Our Land Our Future, Save Manipur's integrity" etc .

At the rally, TAKDAL advisor Laishram Subhash said the rally was aimed at bringing together and uniting the different indigenous communities under a roof to protect Manipur's future.

There will be no force greater when all the communities unite.

A united front of all communities will be able to defeat all threats facing Manipur, he said.

A fractured society is bound to fail.

The indigenous communities remaining divided will not save Manipur.

When it comes to the State, all the indigenous communities must unite and stand together as one force, he said.

Informing about the resolutions taken, TAKDAL advisor Yengkhom Rajendra said that civil bodies representing the indigenous communities have decided to face all external and internal threats to Manipur together.

The indigenous communities at present are facing a multitude of issues which when looked closely are interlinked and threatening the State's integrity, he said.

Even though an issue may seem to be affecting only one community at present, by the nature of the issue, its consequences may have ramifications for other communities later, he said.

The attempt to conduct census operations without updating the NRC first, illegal immigration, SoO Kuki militants' attacks on indigenous communities--all of these threaten the interests and security of the State of Manipur.

Therefore, these issues must be faced together, he added.

When the State's social fabric and integrity is threatened, it should be the responsibility of every indigenous community to come together, openly and strongly to face the threats, Rajendra said.
