Senapati meeting reviews law and order situation

Senapati, August 31 2026:
A stakeholders meeting was held today in connection with the prevailing situation in the district at Somang School, Onaeme Taphou.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioners of Senapati and Kangpokpi districts; Superintendent of Police, Senapati; Additional SP (NH), Senapati; SDPO, Mao and Officer in-charge of Senapati Police Station, chairmen and secretaries of Marenmai, Taphou Kuki, Taphou Liangmai, Matanmai, Taphou Onaeme and Taphou Phyamai.
Addressing the media after the meeting, Senapati Deputy Commissioner Dharun Kumar said security forces have been making earnest efforts to prevent the prevailing situation from escalating.
He urged village leaders to consult with their respective local authorities and take necessary steps to maintain peace and security.
He further maintained that the Senapati and Kangpokpi district administrations have been working together to ensure peace and tranquillity in the region.
He added that feedback had been sought from neighbouring villages on additional security measures to foster a peaceful atmosphere.
The DC also appealed to village leaders to reassure their communities and ensure that people of all ethnicities and communities could live together peacefully.
Kailun Chongloi of Taphou Kuki village, who attended the meeting, told the media that the meeting focused on finding a way forward after days of hardship in and around the Taphou areas.
He informed that the meeting, attended by village chiefs, chairmen, secretaries and district administration officials, discussed measures to de-escalate the prevailing situation.
