Imphal, October 02 2023:
COCOMI Convenor Jeetendra Ning-omba has lamented that some Meitei organisations have been inadvertently working in the manner as desired by Kukis.
Speaking at the 41st foundation day of Oriental Youth Organisation (OYO), Kongpal Iranpham today, the COCOMI Convenor called upon all the people to understand the root causes of the Manipur crisis.
Many Meitei patriots have died in the war to protect the integrity of Manipur and the sanctity of its territorial boundary while many others are still missing, he said.
A large number of people also sustained injuries in the war while tens of thousands have been rendered homeless, Jeetendra said.
He said that the COCOMI was set up in 2019 after uniting several major civil society organisations.
Since then, COCOMI, together with the people, has been working hard to protect the integrity of Manipur, he said.
Now many small organisations are emerging and the emergence of these small organisations is a stumbling block to unification of all the CSOs, he continued.
"We must find out the reasons why the Government of India is favouring the Kukis.
Kukis figure prominently in India's security policy", said the COCOMI Convenor.
He said that the Government of India has been following different strategies and policies to exterminate Meitei insurgents.
He then appealed to all the Meira Paibis to understand the underlying causes of the current crisis.
"Let us not post or upload disparaging words or statements of unwarranted criti- cism against each other in social media", he continued.
"Some groups have been inadvertently working in the manner as desired by Kukis thereby advancing the cause of Kukis even though they stand for the Meitei community", Jeetendra said.
He also appealed to all the people not to project COCOMI in the wrong light.
He said that COCOMI has been working sincerely to protect the integrity of Manipur in line with the collective wish of the people.
Even if there are mistakes or loopholes in the activities of COCOMI, all are welcomed to point out and rectify the same, said the Convenor.
Nongpal convenor Laishram Vivekananda said that the contributions made by all the martyrs toward safeguarding the integrity of Manipur and its territorial boundary are immense and momentous.
