UNC urges non-cooperation with census exercise

Senapati, August 31 2026: The United Naga Council (UNC) has directed all tribal presidents, and presidents of the Chandel Naga People's Organization (CNPO) and Naga People's Organization (NPO), and the convenor of the Joint Tribe Council (JTC), to ensure that villagers do not extend cooperation to government officials assigned to census duties, which are scheduled to begin on September 15, 2026 .

The UNC, in a directive issued today, urged all concerned to provide clear instructions to the villages/public and to strictly comply with the directive throughout the scheduled period.

The directive has been issued in continuation of the UNC's public statement dated August 18, 2026, titled "NRC First: No Census, No Delimitation Before Implementation ofNRC in Manipur" .
