Imphal, February 19 2022:
Khundrakpam Block Congress Committee has cautioned that the way of campaigning for election through holding meeting at night for Khundrakpam AC BJP candidate Thangjam Mohendro by minister Thongam Biswajit will create conflict situation in the constituency.
Issuing a joint release in this regard, Khundrakpam Block Mahila Congress Committee president S Ibemu Devi and Block Committee president Ksh Chaturbhuja said that Khundrakpam A/C was one of the most peaceful constituencies in the state during elections in the past.
However, since formation of the BJP-led government in 2017, conflicts between workers of opponent candidates have become common place, it contended, while adding that the way of campaigning by minister Biswajit in the constituency is low politics and it has become a cause for inciting unwanted incidents among the peace-loving people of the constituency.
Stating that the minister should organise election campaign and public meeting by taking necessary approval from District Election Officer during day time, the joint release contended that minister Biswajit shall be held responsible for any consequences arising out unwanted incidents in the constituency.
The joint release further appealed for ensuring free and fair conduct of the election and allowing the electors to cast their votes freely.
