Keirao AC candidates pledge to improve irrigation system

The six candidates contesting the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election from Keirao assembly constituency shared their views and thoughts when The People's Chronicle put up a set of three questions to them.
The main reason for contesting election, first work to be executed after getting elected and their vision for the state were the three questions put to each of the candidates.
After clearing scrutiny,-six candidates are in fray from the constituency for the upcoming election.
They are Lourembam Rameshwar Meetei of BJP, Md Nasirudin Khan of NPP, Yumnam Shanta of JDU, Toijam Debanand of Shiv Sena, MI Khan of NCP, Thongram Toni of INC.
According to BJP's Lourembam Rameshwar Meetei community based politics is the prime factor for underdevelopment in the constituency.
As such dismantling sectarian concept is the reason for contesting the election as to bring inclusive development, he said.
The incumbent MLA then vowed to set up proper irrigation system to make paddy fields of the constituency green throughout the year and enhance agricultural production.
On his vision for the state, Rameshwar emphasised on improving economy and safeguarding religious discipline.
NPP candidate Md Nasirudin Khan said he decided to contest election to deliver legitimate rights to people and to uproot corruption.
On the second question, he replied that additional attention will be paid to sectors like communication, education and health irrespective caste and creed to bring inclusive development.
The NPP candidate wished to bring peace in Manipur, repeal AFSPA and unify the North East people.
Yumnam Shanta of JDU, in his reply, said that decision to contest the election is centred on breaking the chain of community centric politics.
While assuring to distribute NFSA rice to every beneficiary and improve irrigation facility to enhance food production, the JDU candidate vowed to fight for resolving major issues like border dispute and ST inclusion for Meetei/Meitei.
Toijam Debanand of Shiv Sena said that he decided to contest election to bring development and work on increasing source of income and improve irrigation system to enhance food production.
On the third question, he replied that he will chalk out special policy to provide jobs to unemployed youth.
MI Khan of NCP said he decided to contest election to defend challenges being posed to Manipur's integrity and also to bring welfare policies for poor people of the constituency.
While pledging to end poverty in Keirao AC, MI Khan said he will strive for withdrawal of AFSPA, address unemployment problem and bring a special package for different communities of Manipur.
Thongram Toni of INC said he decided to contest election to bring a change in Manipur.
On the second question, Toni vowed to end community-based politics in Keirao and improve irrigation system to enhance agricultural production.
On his vision for the state, the INC candidate vowed to work for a corruption-free society and develop the economy.
