Imphal, February 19 2022:
With the love and support of the people, the BJP government has been able to usher in peace and development in the state for the past five years.
If the people continue to extend love and support in the ensuing elections, BJP would be able to get absolute majority and form a stable government, stated Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
The CM made the statement during the flag hoisting ceremony of Kshetrigao AC BJP candidate MLA Nahakpam Indrajit at the latter's Thambalkhong Sabal Leikai residence on Saturday.
The event was also attended by Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sana-jaobda, Works minister Th Biswajit, BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda, vice president N Nimbus and Kshetrigao Mandal president O Lakshman.
Biren said that as the BJP government has been able to bring peace and development in both the hills and the valley, not to mention of maintaining harmony, many are extending support to the party.
This was made possible due to launch of people-oriented schemes like Go to Hills, and Go to Village, he added.
CM Biren then went on to say that if Prime Minister Narendra Modi was not present, there is the question of whether the country would still be standing during the pandemic.
We should not forget the efforts taken up by the PM for the people during the desperate situation.
"Truth to be told, PM Modi should be worshiped as a god.
We should not forget that he was the one to provide ample rice for the people when none of us could venture out of our homes," the CM contended.
He continued: "NPP, from the start, has been making hypocritical statements.
However, it would be best if the party refrains from making accusations without any proof or evidence, just because the polls are near.
The Andro incident on Friday was unfortunate and the police have been instructed to thoroughly investigate the same".
Biren then mentioned reports that some candidates have appointed people from their localities in the police department.
However, if one has worn the uniform, they should remember that they are still serving the people.
There is no place for violence in a democracy and it is wrong to engage in violence during the elections.
For BJP, strict instructions have been given not to engage in violence and no report of anyone indulging in the same has been received till date, he maintained.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Indrajit remarked that the constituency did not report any poll violence because he chooses to remain calm even though other candidates try to create issues out of fear of losing the polls.
In addition, the constituency was led by a Muslim representative for over 27 years and still did not report any poll violence till date, he conveyed.
In Senapati district, the flag hoisting ceremony of R Yuh Jonathan Tao, BJP candidate in Karong (ST) AC, was held on Saturday at Oinam Hill with BJP Mani-pur Pradesh A Sharda Devi as the chief guest.
Speaking at the event, Sharda highlighted that since 2017, BJP governments at the Centre and in the state brought development in hills and valley equally and the double engine government has realised the dreams of the people.
On the reason why BJP ticket was given to Jonathan, Sharda said that he has quality to become a true leader for the people like PM Modi and the party hopes that he will do wonders when elected.
She also said that BJP launched different welfare schemes for the people and basic amenities like free rice for every family were provided even during COVID-19 pandemic.
She also said that 'Go to Hills' mission of the CM Biren-led government has strengthened the relation between hills and valley people.
CMHT, Ayushman Bharat, PMJAY schemes have benefitted the common people, she said, adding that BJP leaders are hopeful of getting more votes and seats from the hills in the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election.
Jonathan Tao, in his address, said that he lost with narrow margin in the previous election but is hopeful of winning this time with people's support and God's blessing.
Supporters from Chilivai region, Lepaona region and Paomata region under Poumai villages, Sadim Pukhri, Ngatan, Kuki delegates from Saikul block, village authorities, women and youth leaders from different villages under Karong AC attended the event.
