Ranji Trophy 2021-22 : Manipur beat Arunachal Pradesh by an innings and 25 runs

Manipur got off to a flying start in the Ranji Trophy 2021-22 plate group campaign as they overwhelmed Arunachal Pradesh by an innings and 25 runs inside three days at Calcutta Cricket & Football Club, Kolkata.
After restricting Arunachal Pradesh to 119 runs in their first innings on Day 1, Manipur had posted a commanding first innings total of 296 runs courtesy a half century knock by Al Bashid Muhammad (79 off 159 balls) and significant knocks from Narsingh Yadav (45 off 60 balls), Johnson Singh (38 off 118 balls), Bonny Chingangbam (35 off 63 balls) and Kangabam Priyojit Singh (30 off 47 balls) .

Kangabam Priyojit had a successful outing today as he took three more wickets after Arunachal Pradesh started the day at 40-6 to finish with the best haul of 4 wickets for 25 runs in the innings in 15.3 overs and a match figures of 5/37 .
Trailing behind by 137 runs and with only four wickets left in the hand, Nazeeb Saiyed and Kamsho Yangfo gave Arunachal Pradesh a steady start but L Kishan Singha removed Kamsha Yangfo on 27 for the seven wicket before star of the day Priyojit bowled Nazeeb Saiyed out on 30 for his second wicket in the innings and to mount pressure on Arunachal Pradesh.
However, Akhilesh Sahani soaked up some pressure and let his willow do the talking before he departed on 58-ball 50 to Kangabam Priyojit who also dismissed Yab Niya on golden duck to trigger the Arunachal Pradesh collapse at 152 .
With a wicket in the innings, L Kishan Singha who took a hattrick in Arunachal Pradesh's first innings, finished with match figures of 5/39 .
Bishorjit Konthoujam, in the meantime finished with the innings figure of 2/42 in 16 overs (match figures 4/63) and Raj Kumar Rex with 2/53 in 15 overs (match figures 4/113) .
Manipur will play Mizoram in the next match from February 24 to 27 at Jadavpur University Campus 2nd Ground, Kolkata.
