Tbl/Bpr, February 19 2022:
The ruling BJP government looks down upon women and minority, said CLP leader O Ibobi during the flag hoisting ceremony of Lilong AC INC candidate Alhaj Syed Anwar Hussain held at Lilong Haoreibi Sambrukhong on Saturday.
Ibobi remarked that the central BJP government appointed only one woman to be part of the decision-making process for namesake only, while the state BJP government has failed to allow even a single representation from the minority community.
The principle of democracy has degenerated under the dictatorship of the Modi-led BJP government and will soon disappear if the present government continues.
In his speech, Syed Anwar Hussain assured of setting up a girl's college in Lilong, provide safe drinking water within 6 months and address all grievances, if elected.
He then said that it is our right to safeguard our culture and identity.
However, the BJP government in Karnataka is violating this right, by banning Muslim girls from wearing Hijab, which is similar to asking the girls to go out without wearing clothes.
Thus, we should not place the responsibility of protecting our rights on such a political party which interferes with the religious identity of people.
Ibobi, who also attended the flag hoisting ceremony of Kumbi AC INC candidate Dr Kh Romesh cum public meeting at the candidate's residence at Kumbi Khuga Wangma on Saturday, remarked that the political scenario in Kumbi AC is like a pot placed on uneven ground.
The ex-CM recounted that during the time of Congress, various development works were taken up in Kumbi constituency.
However, shifting of side by the MLAs put a stop on the development progress.
As such, he urged the people not to vote for such disloyal representatives nor for BJP, an anti-democracy political party, which is also an enemy of the Congress.
Speaking to newspersons, candidate Dr Kh Romesh questioned how long the denizens of Kumbi will continue to be suppressed.
The old may not care much but the situation is dire for the youth and efforts must be made to ensure a good future for them.
He then remarked that the PM Modi-government lays more emphasis on marketing, while the CM Biren-led government believes in governing the state via Facebook.
MPCC president N Loken, Sugnu AC MLA K Ranjit, CPI secretary L Sotinkumar, office bearers of Kumbi Block Congress Committee, AICC's Manipur in-charge Bhakta Charan Das and MLA K Meghachandra also attended the political events.
