NPP to petition ECI, CEO

While strongly condemning the attack on Andro AC NPP candidate Lourembam Sanjoy's father Shyamjai, Meghalaya CM and NPP national president Conrad Sangma has said that a complaint will be lodged to CEO against the gun attack for taking up necessary action against perpetrators of the crime.
After suffering bullet injury in the attack, Shyamjai is currently undergoing treatment at Shija hospitals and a team of NPP leaders led by Conrad Sangma visited the hospital to enquire about Shyamjai's condition on Saturday.
Conrad told media persons that the gun attack on NPP candidate's father was an act of cowardice and condemnable and NPP considers the attack as handiwork of some disgruntled people.
Contending that the incident occurred due to security lapses, Conrad, said he has been taking part in the campaign for Manipur assembly election since the year 2002 but no incident like Friday night's incident at Andro had ever happened.
ECI and CEO must look into the matter seriously and take necessary action or else there would be no free and fair election in Manipur, he said and appealed to people of the state to work towards having a peaceful election.
Deputy CM and NPP national vice president Y Joykumar, who was part of the NPP team, told media persons that a written complaint will be lodged to ECI regarding the attack on Sanjoy's father.
He also said that there had been numerous incidents of attack on families of NPP candidates.
SHRI managing director Dr Palin Khundongbam informed media persons that L Shyamjai's condition is stable now after he was admitted to the hospital on Friday night with bullet injury mark on his left shoulder.
