12 Postal Ballot teams dispatched

Churachandpur, February 19 2022:
In accordance to the Election Commission of India extending the option of postal ballot to absentee voters, including those above 80 years of age, persons with disabilities (PWDs) and Covid-19 patients for the ensuing assembly polls, the DEO/DC of Churachandpur Pawan Yadav on Saturday flagged off nine polling teams from Mini-Secretariat complex in the presence of SP Shivanand Surve, ROs and AROs.
The polling team comprises two polling officials along with a videographer and security.
The teams despatched include five for Saikot, one for Henglep and three for Churachandpur AC.
On Friday five teams for Churachandpur and one team for Singhat AC were despatched.
No polling team will be sent to Tipaimukh AC and Thanlon AC as no application for the same was received.
The polling team will go to the elector's house along with a Voting Compartment and get the electors to vote on the Postal Ballot maintaining complete secrecy of vote.
For the first time, Postal Ballot facility for Absentee Voters for the categories - 80+ (AVSC), PwDs (AVPD) and Covid-19 (AVCO) are available for the 12th General Election to Manipur Legislative Assembly, 2022, as per the provisions of ECI.
Meanwhile, the commissioning of EVMs and VVPATS for the six ACs of Churachandpur and Pherzawl districts was completed on Saturday.
The machines are sealed and stored in the strong rooms located at Old Mini-Secretariat, Tuibong.
At the same time, the third round of training for polling personnel is underway at St Mary's Higher Secondary School, Tuibong.
It will conclude on February 22 .
