Imphal, February 19 2022:
The Champhai Block Chief & Chairman Association (CBC&CA) has called off the indefinite economic blockade along the two National Highways after the State's Finance Department released MGNREGS funds amounting to Rs 113 crore.
As per a source in the Finance Department, there is no more MGNREGS funds pending with the release of this amount which will likely reach the respective blocks in two to three days.
CBC&CA chairman Delhau Louvum, in a statement, announced the lifting of the indefinite economic blockade with immediate effect.
Along with this development, a CRPF convoy has also left Imphal to bring in the fuel tankers which are stranded at Khatkhati, Assam.
It may be mentioned that the supply of fuel to retail outlets in Manipur was greatly affected by the economic blockade due to the depletion of petrol stock at Malom Oil Depot.
