KSO unit suspends NH-37 blockade

After reaching an understanding with the government, Kuki Students' Organisation, Moltam Block has suspended the ongoing blockade along National Highway 37 (Imphal-Jiribam road) with immediate effect.
The KSO Block imposed the indefinite blockade since November 9 midnight to protest the torching of an excavator belonging to NHIDCL at a spot located between Bijang village and Thanglongbung village under New Keithelmanbi Police Station on November 7 by some unidentified armed men suspected to be cadres of NSCN-IM.
The KSO block had earlier warned of imposing indefinite blockade if the culprits were not booked within 24 hours and subsequently imposed the blockade as no one was arrested.
However, the KSO block decided to suspend the blockade after reaching an understanding during a meeting held on Thursday at New Keithelmanbi Police Station.
During the meeting, KSO Moltam Block leaders held talk with the government side led by IGP (Zone III) Nishit Kumar Ujjwal, SP Kangpokpi Amrita Sinha and additional SP Kangpokpi Tholu Rocky.
During the meeting, KSO Moltam Block leaders high -lighted their grievances and concerns relating to the November 7 arson.
