Alleged fraud masquerading as anti-graft campaigner held

Heingang police arrested a 41-year-old identified as Md Mansoor Alam, a self-styled president of Anti Corruption Foundation of India involved in "doubtful activities" .
He was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal East today and remanded to 5 days police custody.
Md Mansoor Alam of Kairang Mayai Leikai was arrested yesterday at around 5.30 pm.
He claimed himself to be the president of the Anti Corruption Foundation of India allegedly certified by the National Vigilance Commission.
Before the Court of the Chief Magistrate Imphal East, the Investigating Officer of the case submitted that the accused on social media had claimed to have recovered a borrowed sum of Rs 8 lakh from various defaulters and till now he has recovered Rs 4 crore from various defaulters.
He had declared that victims may contact him for recovery of money.
After a direction was given to SP Imphal East for an enquiry into the information of the self styled president, the National Vigilance Commission was contacted and it was found that no certification was given to Anti Corruption Foundation of India and the organisation is fraudulent.
From the office of the organization, the police recovered 3 seals, ID card, diaries, forged documents including recruitment forms and a sign board.
The IO submitted that the accused was running an unlawful establishment.
On preliminary interrogation, the accused has admitted to the charges levelled against him, said the IO praying for 5 days police custody.
The Court on perusal of the case record and after hearing the submissions of the IO, remanded the accused to 5 days police custody till November 14 .
Notably, the accused, Md Mansoor Alam was arrested by Imphal East police in June 2019 for posing as official Spokesperson of Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Facebook.
