Farmers trained on scientific rearing of pigs

A farmers' training programme on 'scientific rearing of pigs' under the National Livestock Mission (NLM) was held at District Veterinary Hospital, Christian Colony, Senapati on Thursday.
Speaking at the inauguration of the programme organised by Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Services, Senapati, veterinary office joint director Dr Sani Pao explained that the training was aimed at creating awareness on how to rear pigs and treat any disease by any pig farmers.
He urged the gathering to make the best use of the lecture and implement for a fruitful venture.
Tingkhai Khunou Pony Farm project officer Dr Ch Esau Mao, who attended the function as a resource person, deliberated on "General management of piggery farm and housing of pig and breed selection", Mao Veterinary Hospital representative Dr K Puhle Japheth on "Feeding management of pig and disease pertaining to reproduction" and district veterinary officer Dr Chang L on "Management of different common viral, bacterial and metabolic diseases of pig" .
The training programme was attended by around 70 farmers, who were then presented certificates.
