3.564 kg brown sugar seized, two held

Imphal, November 10 2022:
A team of Singhat (Singngat) police station apprehended two people with around 3.564 kg of brown sugar in an operation on Wednesday evening.
The two arrested people have been identified as Ngamkholal Guite (40) s/o Letkhopao of Mongjang village and Mangmuanlian Hangluah (46) s/o (L) Goukholian of Buangmun village, both in Singngat sub-division.
According to a police report, on receiving reliable information about some people attempting to transport contraband goods using motorcycles on the Singngat-Suankuang road on Wednesday around 7pm, a team of Singngat PS set up a temporary check post near New Teikot village.
At around 8.30pm, the team intercepted two Kenbo bikes each driven by the two persons.
The two sacks being carried on those bikes were checked and found containing around 297 soap boxes suspected to be brown sugar.
The checking was done in the presence of EM and civil witnesses.
The contraband weighed around 3.564 kg in total.
The two people were arrested and the drugs along with the Kenbo Bikes and two phones seized on the spot.
A regular case FIR No.23(11) SGT PS u/s 21(c) NDPS Act has been registered for further investigation, the report conveyed.
