Uripok AC candidates vow to bring development

In a bid to highlight the views and vision of the candidates for the ensuing assembly elections, The People's Chronicle interviewed the three candidates in fray in Uripok assembly constituency.
The three candidates are Khumbongmayum Suresh (JD-U), Yumnam Joykumar (NPP) and Khwairakpam Raghumani (BJP).
According to Suresh, priority would be towards development of Human Resource Index and creating livelihood to narrow the gap between the rich and the poor along with provision of potable water to every household and generate employment opportunity for the youth.
While pointing out that Manipur has rich natural resources, Suresh said that he will focus in service sector to make a developed Manipur.
Meanwhile, NPP candidate Yumnam Joykumar said he is contesting the assembly election for the second time to take forward the developmental works that could not be exuded in the previous term by forming a government led by NPP and creating a healthy relationship with the people.
He said that blacktopping of most of the roads has already been completed and rooftop solar power panels installed atop many community halls.
As construction of drainage system could not be completed in the first term, Joykumar said he will accord priority towards proper maintenance of drains and construction of Nambul river banks for preventing flooding in the constituency in the second term.
He also pledged to improve the state's economy through implementation of agro-based projects.
Similarly, BJP's Raghumani said he is contesting the election in order to bring development in the constituency.
As the ILP system being implemented in the state is not effective in the real sense, all possible efforts would be made to prevent outsiders from overwhelming the indigenes.
Raghumani further said that he will exert pressure on the central government for developing Manipur and will plan for utilisation of state resources.
He will also frame policies for youth in particular, so as to make them responsible future pillars of the society.
