Imphal, July 30 2026:
Locals blocked road and staged a sit-in protest at Kanglatongbi today, condemning the killing of a Naga Village Guard by CoBRA Commandos at Bitiang village in Noney district yesterday.
The protest demonstration was organised by the Makhan Area Chief Chairman Association (MACCA) and Koubru Range Liangmai Women Union (KRLWU) .
Vehicular movement was restricted during the demonstration.
The protesters raised slogans accusing security forces of targeting the villagers defending their own villages against Kuki militants' attacks.
Instead of pursuing the Kuki militants who have abducted and killed Naga civilians, the security forces have cracked down on Nagas who are defending their own villages, the protesters alleged.
The protesters also condemned the "arrest" of JTC leaders, and accused the Government of acting in a partisan manner against indigenous people.
The Government must bear the responsibility and deliver justice for Nagas killed and injured, said the protesters.
