Imphal, October 28 2026:
Senior citizens staged a protest demonstration against the prolonged unrest and widespread violence besieging the State for the last many years.
The protest demonstration held at Khurai Ahongei Thangjam Leikai was organised by the Senior Citizens' Group, Khurai Ahongei Thangjam Leikai.
Speaking to media persons, Senior Citizens' Group, Khurai Ahongei Thangjam Leikai secretary Leitanthem Binoy said that senior citizens are deeply worried about the future of youngsters in view of the prolonged restive situation.
He said that senior citizens can no longer watch silently when Kuki narco-terrorists have unleashed a campaign of genocide against the indigenous people in pursuit of their political demand for a Separate Administration.
"We are old and helpless.
Yet we cannot just sit back and watch the genocide silently", Binoy said.
He said that the senior citizens, though physically incapable, will lend moral support to all the youngsters who have been struggling and fighting to protect the integrity of Manipur and its territorial boundary.
He urged the Government of India and the State Government to take up effective measures so as to restore peace and normalcy in the State at the earliest.
The senior citizens used placards which read as "Put an end to divide and rule policy", "Won't accept any separate administration out of Manipur", "Go back narco-terrorists, go back foreigners" and "No NRC, No Election".
Representatives of the Native People's Committee Manipur (NPCM) too spoke at the protest demonstration.
