Singjamei AC candidates share thoughts regarding polls

In connection with the ensuring 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly elections, the five candidates in fray for the seat of Singjamei Constituency shared their thoughts with The People's Chronicle regarding decision to contest the election, and their vision for the constituency and the state as a whole.
BJP candidate Yumnam Khemchand said that he wants to continue to prove with his actions what he wants to do for the constituency, and further introduce a policy which will help the people of Singjamei capable of standing on their own.
He then said that he will fulfil all responsibilities given to him by the central and state governments, in addition to resolving the different issues of the state, thereby making it self-sustainable.
INC candidate Irengbam Hemochandra stated that he wants to fulfil the works he was not able to do during his term.
In addition to improving the drainage system of the constituency, the former Congress MLA said he would organise different vocational training programmes, while also setting up food-based industries in the state and harness the talented youth of the state for overall development of economic resources.
Meanwhile, NPP candidate Oinam Romen Singh said that he wants to formulate policies and programmes to address the unemployment issues faced by youth, by taking part in the decision making process.
His first job for the constituency would be to provide suitable livelihood means and his vision for the state is to take up specific steps for protection of the indigenous people.
On the other hand, JD (U) candidate Ngangbam Robert Singh shared that he is contesting the polls to improve the lifestyle and livelihood of the denizens of Singjamei.
His first assignment after getting elected would be to streamline the delivery of various welfare schemes to the entitled beneficiaries.
He then said that he wants to harness the available resources of the state to help it become self-sustainable, in addition to making Manipur an international border transit centre so as improve the state's economy.
