Imphal, February 13 2022:
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) working president and Singjamei AC ex-MLA I Hemochandra has remarked that BJP's attitude of using every means possible, whether good or bad, to win the upcoming 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election, is bound to lead to its own downfall.
Speaking to newspersons after the flag hoisting ceremony at his Singjamei ChMgamakha residence on Sunday, Hemochandra maintained that using unfair means in the election is not only unfortunate but should never have been done in the first place.
BJP's hypocrisy of trying to showcase love for the country, nationalism and "One India", while creating discord between the hills and the valley and involving NSCN (IM) in the electoral process by mentioning the territorial issue, is unprincipled and being continued as a political trend, just so that they could be victorious in the polls.
Thus, the people of the state will be giving such unprincipled intentions the biggest defeat in the upcoming elections, he contended.
The ex-MLA then said that the ensuing elections in five different states will present a different political map of India, especially in Manipur.
The people will give their verdict on the 5-year misrule of BJP on February 28.Historically, Manipur has always placed its belief on Congress as many changes have been made during the party's rule.
The democratic principle with regard to the freedom of media will always be a huge fight; he remarked and added that a new political history of Congress party will be established under this vision.
Regarding the constituency, Hemochandra said that although the opposing candidates consist of those who lost to him in the previous polls, all four candidates are not weak.
However, the one to be affected the most would be the sitting MLA, he observed, while expressing belief that he (Hemochandra) is likely to win big in the polls, considering the current political trend.
He further stated that Congress will become the single largest party.
There is no need to predict winning of seats considering around 10 candidates of BJP are those who won the previous polls on Congress ticket.
There is also the usage of intending candidates by the party, as stated by former BJP spokesperson Ch Bijoy.
NPP, JD (U) and NPF along with other non-Congress and non-BJP may also win the polls, but they would not have much role to play post polls, he added.
