JD-U polling office destroyed, two injured

Thoubal, February 13 2022:
Two people were injured when some armed men suspected to be supporters of a candidate attacked and destroyed booth offices of JD-U at 35/10 and 35/11 polling stations under Khangabok AC.
The incident occurred late Saturday evening when the armed men intruded into the JD-U booth offices and started removing party's flags and banners.
The injured have been identified as Thokchom Lakhamon (64) of Khangabok Part-I and his daughter-in-law Sand yarani (27) .
Lakhamon suffered injuries on his neck and chest in the attack while Sandyarani was hit on her chest when she tried to save Lakhamon.
Meanwhile, locals staged protest against the attack and thrashing of people staying inside the booth offices.
A woman named Laishram Sumati of the locality told media persons that JD-U polling offices were set up Saturday morning but some armed men in three vehicles (Maruti Gypsy) came at about 11pm and started to destroy the structures when the local youth returned to their respective houses.
Later, the armed men pushed Lakhamon to nearby drain and thrashed him badly when he enquired about the intrusion.
Sand-yararii too was assaulted by the armed men when she tried to save her father-in-law.
