STDCM holds street corner meeting

Imphal, February 13 2022:
In pursuance of the demand for inclusion of Meetei/Meitei in the ST list of the Constitution of India, Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee, Manipur (STDCM) carried out a series of street corner meetings along the Sagolband-Patsoi stretch of NH-37 on Sunday.
In a release, STDCM general secretary K Bhogendrajit conveyed that the street corner meetings were held at Meino Leirak crossing, Bijoy Govinda, Tera Keithel, Tera Khuraijam-Loukrakpam Leirak crossing, Takyel Khamnam Keithel and Langjing Achouba Keithel.
STDCM general secretary K Bhogendrajit, secretary finance Kh Kunder, convenor L Romesh Meetei, executive members K Lokeshwar and A Basanta spoke about the demand during these meetings and highlighted the urgent need to ensure constitutional safeguard for Meetei as the indigenous community is in dire situation.
The protection could be attained when Meetei is enlisted in the ST list, they stressed.
It is unfortunate that political parties do not include any points about the protection of Meetei/Meitei and enlisting in the ST list in their election manifestos, the speakers lamented, while appealing to the people to elect candidates who will sincerely work for the protection of Meetei/Meitei indigenous community.
