Thoubal, February 13 2022:
In yet another supposed case of pre poll violence, BJP workers allegedly vandalised an office of Janata Dal (United) being set up at Khangabok Part-I, shots fired and assaulted the latter's supporters last
night.
The people who were injured in the alleged assault are Thokchom Lakhamon (64) and his daughter in law Sandhyarani (27) .
It is reported that both the injured were kicked in the chest by the workers of BJP candidate Menjor Mangang.
Denouncing the alleged attack, a protest demonstration was staged at Khangabok, today.
Speaking to media persons by the sideline of the demonstration, one Laishram Sumati stated that the BJP workers came at around 11 pm in three vehicles (Maruti Gypsy) while they were at camp for opening the poll office in the area.
Claiming that Thokchom Lakhamon was dragged to a nearby drain and beaten for trying to appease them (the BJP workers) and subsequently targeted his daughter in law too, she alleged that the assaulters also pointed a gun at the women who are like mothers to them.
Asking if the attack was carried out under the instruction of BJP candidates and whose gun they were using to intimidate them, she added that such kinds of poll related violence had never occurred in
Khangabok earlier.
Sumati also said that she knows the identity of some of the BJP workers who assaulted them.
