Imphal, February 13 2022:
The trend of election of wealthy individuals who lack political culture and ethics and generally use money and muscle power has turned the assembly into a forum for discussing business, said INC candidate for the seat of Langthabal assembly constituency Okram Joy.
He was speaking at a felicitation function organised for former BJYM Langthabal Mandal president Yaikhomba and his companions, who used to support BJP ticket seeker Pukhrambam Somorjit, at the residence of INC worker M Megha at Langthabal Kunja Makha Leikai on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, O Joy maintained that contrary to the people's expectation of bringing good governance and expediting the state's development, the BJP led government has turned into a capitalist and monopolist establishment.
The public have lost their faith on the BJP and they are turning back to Congress, he observed and expressed happiness that the BJP workers are joining INC.
The people of Langthabal AC know how BJP ignored loyal party members and endorsed new entrants.
The public also know how the party traded its tickets for crores of rupees and such culture has resulted in the downfall of BJP.
Lotus can never bloom in Langthabal where the government could not provide safe drinking water, he said.
Joy also decried the police department for acting at the whims of the ruling party without any regard for their professional ethics.
At the same time, the value of secularism is decreasing under the BJP government, which runs on the slogan of 'One man one voice one language and one culture'.
BJP has turned the phrase 'Government for the people' into 'Government for the capitalists, industrialists and monopolists', he contended.
