Imphal, February 13 2022:
The world we live in can be quite unforgiving and unfair sometimes and this can be quite suffocating for some.
In the Japanese film 'Under The Open Sky', a man in his early 50s who had spent the last 13 years in prison learns how to live life again and be accepted in society but was met with many more injustices.
Directed by Miwa Nishikawa, the film revolves around Koji Yakusho who essays the role of Masao Mikami, a former Yazuka who in Japanese context is a gangster or a person involved in organised crimes.
Misao, however is a kind-hearted, well-mannered person who lives by the simple principle that injustice in the world should not at all be tolerated.
With his upbringing as a love-deprived son, he also began his quest to find his long lost mother, but the question is will he find it.
The movie is intriguing as it finely captures the realities of life and innate nature of humans to frown upon people who doesn't fit into the box of societal norms.
The performance of Koji Yakusho is indeed brilliant in depicting a dual personality of soft-hearted man to a cold and fierce fighter.
It is an emotional ride watching this movie and will surely enrich you with the joys and hurdles of life.
