Imphal, July 30 2026:
The Working Committee, Joint Tribes Council Manipur (WC-JTCM) has announced the immediate withdrawal of the total emergency shutdown imposed a day earlier against the killing of a Naga village guard at Bitiang (Laphok) in Noney district.
However, the council, in a press note, stated that the inter-district economic bloc-kade being enforced by the United Naga Council (UNC) would remain in effect across the Inpui, Liangmai, Rongmei and Zeme areas.
territories.
Meanwhile, the WC-JTCM said that both the Manipur Government and the Centre had failed to deliver justice for the six Naga men who were brutally murdered.
It warned that any further inaction by the Government would lead to the intensification of the economic blockade and the reimposition of a total shutdown.
The council added that the demand for justice for the six slain Nagas is non-negotiable.
