Dimapur, July 30 2026:
The NSCN (IM) has accused the CoBRA units of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Zeliangrong United Front (Jiangchui) of killing a 'Naga village guard' in Noney district today.
"We strongly condemn the unprovoked attack on volunteers of the Western Command of the Naga Village Guard and the Joint Tribes Council Manipur (JTCM) who were defending Bitiang village on July 29, 2026", said the NSCN (IM) in a press release.
It also said that "the violent assault, which resulted in the killing of a Naga Village Guard, is a grave and unacceptable assault on the indigenous Naga community's right to security and protection" .
The NSCN (IM) said the Zeliangrong United Front (Jiangchui), in collusion with CoBRA units of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), carried out the operation and termed the incident as abhorrent.
The apparent alignment of India's elite forces with armed aggressors undermines the neutrality and accountability of India", it added.
The NSCN (IM) then conveyed its condolences to the family of the slain village guard.
"We mourn the loss of a brave martyr who gave his life protecting his village and community.
May the Almighty grant him eternal rest, and may his family be granted strength and solace in this time of grief", it added.
