Parijat remembered on his 7th death anniversary

The 7th death anniversary of former Minister and CPI leader Pheiroijam Parijat was observed today at Irawat Park in Lamlai Chalou.
The observation organised by Pheiroijam Parijat Memorial Trust was attended by CPI National executive member Dr M Nara; CPI Manipur State Council secretary L Sotinkumar, party leaders and locals of Lamlai area.
Speaking at the event, Dr M Nara said Manipur is in a critical political juncture.
He added that the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election which was held in two phases on Feb 28 and March 5 saw numerous poll related violence and went on to allege that the candidates used a huge cache of money to woo away voters.
Such blatant use of money will only make the future of the State bleaker, he added.

Dr Nara added that such candidates who have come to power through use of money and muscle power will never do anything for the welfare of the State and reiterated that there is a need to bring electoral reformation for the welfare of the State.
Speaking at the event L Sotinkumar said Parijat was one of the most important people who worked selflessly to bring change in the society.
Former Minister Parijat had worked for the welfare of farmers and the weaker sections of the society all over the State during his lifetime, he added.
